What's changed

The ESD Board met on January 18 2010.

President  Hector Saroza

Hector is a local Christian businessman running D'Salon Hairstyling in Luquillo. Hector's association with ESD began in 2003 when we began to restructure our board leadership from a missionary-run ministry to a ministry run by a local board of directors. Hector enjoys playing the guitar with the music team at his church.

Vice President Dr. Juanita Rodriguez

Juanita Rodriguez is a professor of Special Education at the University of Puerto Rico (UPR). She has been involved in training teachers, researching issues related to various areas of special education and works with various ministries with her church in Cayey. She has been associated with ESD for over 20 years.

Secretary-Treasurer Jenny Rivera

Jenny Rivera has been a friend of ESD for the many years.  She is a teacher at a local Christian school and student of sign language.

Members at large:
Jen Johnson,       Glenda Vega,        Carlos Motta

Jen Johnson is a fulltime ESD worker.
You can read more about her at the Meet the Staff page.

Glenda Vega is a recent friend of ESD.  She works as a teacher in the Humacao area and as our one Deaf board member offers insight into the Deaf community.

Carlos Motta has been associated with ESD for over 30 years.  He is married to a woman who was once an ESD student.  Carlos is active in his church as an interpreter and works part-time in Fajardo as the town interpreter. Carlos also is our school chaplain.

Heather Crichton worked at ESD in 1989-90 and presently works with the women's and children's ministries at the Evangelical Church for the Deaf in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico.

School Director Elisabeth Hoke
