MARCH 7, 2010
Ezekiel 44:23 "And they shall teach My people the difference between the holy and the unholy, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean."
PRAY FOR SELENA
(pronounced Sa lay na : the E in Spanish is pronounced as A in English)
She started school with us on February 25. She is living with a foster family - removed from her home, removed from a dangerous situation - now living with people she does not know and put into our school. Pray for her peace. Pray for her openness to the Lord. Pray for our wisdom as we work with her. Pray that she will come to know Christ as her Saviour and Lord.
We don't know how long or short she will be with us so pray that each moment will be used wisely.
PRAY FOR KEVIN
Kevin and his mom did not move to Connecticut. We are praying that he will return to school soon. Pray that his family gets all of their details worked out so that he can get back to his studies as soon as possible.
PRAY FOR OUR VISITING WORKERS:
- Teams arrive March 12 from Ontario Canada, and April 7 from NJ, USA
- traveling safety for the visiting workers as they drive to stores and encounter different driving trends
- working safety (as well as playing safety!) and prevention of injuries - they are working on sealing the roofs and taking care of some painting :-) and lighting issues.
- each one to take time to reflect on their experiences, to meditate on God's Word and to allow God to guide their hearts and minds as they live and work and eat and sleep and move and breathe together as a team

A NEW NAME WRITTEN IN GLORY!
PRAISE GOD! Kioney (age 6) arrived to
school in August. She cried when she was presented with her first
Milestones book to begin reading lessons. Now she is reading
comfortably and learning her spelling words. Kioney has had some sign
language lessons from a Jehovah's Witness contact and came with some
questions.
On December 17 as we drove to Ponce for a special activity
there, Kioney asked Jen about the devil. During their discussion, Jen
challenged Kioney with the choice - which do you want to rule your
heart? Kioney chose God and Jen helped her to pray.On Friday in chapel time, she was able to tell everyone that Jesus is in her heart! How sweet to see a new little one come to understand and receive God's gift of salvation!
Pray that we will be effective teachers of these children God has entrusted to our care, that we would teach them to discern what is godly and to desire to walk in God's ways always. Pray for God's protection on our ministry and hearts to be moved to see more Deaf children come regularly to classes so that they can learn of His love.

This is Kristian - the boy being hugged by a visiting worker. He needs your prayers right now. Kristian has had two really good months of peace in school and at home - bullies were removed and some changes were made for his good. Now, Kristian is having some struggles at home that he is unable to put down when he is at school. These are affecting his school work and also his personality as anger takes the place of the peace and joy he has recently begun to show.
Pray for our staff - for wisdom in how to intervene, and for renewed efforts to bring the Gospel to his family.
Pray for Kristian - for strength of character, for strength in the Lord, for his family to turn to Christ, for Kristian's testimony before them to be strong and filled with peacefulness and the Fruit of the Spirit.
Please carry our other students before the Throne of Grace as they struggle at times with peer pressure, behavior and honoring their parents. God is good. He is faithful. And we are seeing growth and trials that are part of His work in each of us here.
God is working here and we praise Him for it!
PRAY for TWO young ladies who are in the process of application, approval and planning deputation in an effort to come to work with us full-time. Both have documentation to be certified as teachers in Puerto Rico (a must to maintain our school license) and both have the skills required to work with our students.
Praise God for answers to prayer and His sovereignty.
Pray for Judy as she works along with us now. We are slowly integrating her into the schedule and praying for her ASL skills as she rapidly remembers another sign language.
Pray for Larimar as she may move into a mainstreamed classroom in the
coming school year. We do not feel that Larimar's communication skills
are equal to the task of learning in a mainstreamed classroom. Pray
that God's Will be done with this young girl.
At the end of July 2009, we received a phone call from a man from Cameroon,
Africa. The church has purchased land upon which they hope to build a
school and they would love to have a ministry for the Deaf. PRAY for
the Deaf around the world to have willing workers with willing hands to
present the Gospel in a way that they can understand and receive the
gift of God's salvation and grace.

Pray for the needed staff for the coming school year -
- office worker - Spanish fluency is a help, as well as some sign language
- lunch cook - a reliable daily volunteer or series of volunteers who would see to it that meals are prepared and the kitchen maintained, (the office and cook position could be filled by one person)
- maintenance worker - knowledgeable about basic plumbing, carpentry, cement roofs, and vehicle maintenance
- teachers trained (or willing to receive training) to work with the Deaf

PRAISE GOD for Laura who has helped in the office since August. She has made a weekly commitment to come and work on 'Office Things.' Pray for her as she learns some sign language and interacts with the students.
Pray for us as we work together - that her time will be used wisely and God will give us insight on how to make the best use of her here. We praise God for her willing hands and knowledgeable mind.

PRAISE GOD for a part-time volunteer, Sonia, who is a certified teacher and unemployed. She is working with us and learning ASL as she observes. She is doing some one on one tutoring with students in need. Pray for her spiritually as she hears the Gospel. Pray that she and all of our volunteers and visitors will see God's love in action.
We are thankful for our many volunteers including Carlos and his chapel lessons, Gisela and Carla and their lunches, and visiting volunteers from the US and elsewhere who do this and that.
